Mika has always been one of my favorite characters, a traumatized child who grew up into a monster that trusts no one. He blames himself for the death of his family, has only a single bond that keeps him from death. So during his time in Song, I want him to not only face that trauma and deal with it properly, finding it within him to keep living for himself. Also, to actually gain other people he trusts and comes to like or even think of as family. I would like to break down his steel walls, so he can have some of that cheer he used to - not to go backward, but to move forward into a new stage of his life.
While it will be hard for Mika to interact or get attached to others at first, he is capable of it. He may do it with a grumpy attitude and a permanent scowl, but he went four years without the tether that is Yuu. Even if he has little regard for his own life, Mika is always determined to push ahead in order to see Yuu again or ensure he can help his friend if possible. I do also happen to like putting him against those Protag types who will push him out of his comfort zones and Friendship him. Finding those similar to him does give Mika a quiet place where he can relax a little more, too.

Personality:
While it might not always seem like it, Mika can be quite kind. It may not always be apparent in the way he brushes people off, but in the way he keeps his mouth shut. Not only does he have a giant soft spot for children, he also goes out of his way to protect others from a horrible truth that would cost them their lives. He may say it's because that is none of his business, but Mika doesn't want to see others lose their family, too. Due to the harsh cruelty of the world, it's difficult to step in and save everyone, but he pulled himself back from hurting children when the bloodlust clouded his mind. His kindness tends to show the most whenever around Yuichiro, the one person Mika truly cares for. It's because of Yuu that he's accepted working alongside others no matter how much he wanted to simply run away or even kill them. Unlike others, he doesn't typically enjoy having to kill humans or vampires but will if it becomes necessary. For the most part, Mika is quite the patient individual. He waited four years while amongst vampires in order to be able see Yuu again. In all of that time, he not only lived among the creatures that terrorized his family, but also didn't let on that he was disgusted by them. While he wasn't always nice to them, he didn't stir up too much trouble that would result in his death. Patience is one thing that has carried over from his human days when Mika waited years before putting his escape plan into action. When Yuu goes under - whether it be due to the demon or seraph - he waits for the other teen to wake up without putting up much of a fuss. He handles Yuu's demon side patiently, not rising to the obvious attempts to rile him up. Though it should be said that when Mika does lose his patience often has to do with Yuu - typically when the other teen is in danger or doing something stupidly reckless. There is one aspect of Mika that has stayed the same and that's his intelligence. As a child, he plotted their escape by allowing Ferid to drink his blood so that he could search his place for a map. On top of getting a map, he also got a gun to protect them. While he failed to see that it was a trap, Mika knew that they couldn't take the vampires straight on and they would have to sneak out. Being only eight when he was taken as livestock means that Mika didn't have much of an education but he does know how to read, write and some other basic things. Still, he has a fairly strategic mind for someone with his background. It doesn't always compare to those who are older but he does pretty well thinking a few steps ahead and also thinking on his feet. Mika was even able to trick older vampires when necessary. Even without his memories, Mika instinctively knew how to use his demon powers, diving deeper into Yuu's memories and figuring out who he was again. He knew that there would be a price for resurrecting the world and it wouldn't be a light one. Mika is both ready to sacrifice himself and yet selfish at the same time. As a child, he put his life on the line in order to save Yuu and was ready to die instead of becoming a vampire. He was willing to stand between Yuu and both humans and vampires in order for the other teens to escape despite the fact that he likely would have died in the process. He put himself through extreme torment by refusing to drink human blood for years until his most important person insisted. While Mika is absolutely willing to die for Yuu's sake, he also wants to be the only person in Yuu's life. There are several times when Mika tries to take Yuu away from others entirely, even when their lives were on the line. He wants the two of them to run away and just live without anyone else to interfere with their lives. A lot of this stems from the overwhelming guilt he carries from their failed escape attempt, having to know that it was his plan that failed and ended up with the deaths of his family. This is why when Guren put forth the plan of sacrificing all vampires and his own life to resurrect all of humanity (including his own family), Mika was willing to go along with it, to atone for the mistakes he had made and finally get to be at peace. After everything that's happened, Mika is extremely distrustful of everyone - humans and vampires alike. He's spent enough time around vampires to know that they care for very little except their own amusement. Yet he doesn't trust humans much more after learning that they've experimented on others, even himself and Yuu, and from his experiences with his own parents. It takes a great deal for someone to earn Mika's trust and they may not even gain it entirely. There are a few people he doesn't trust at all, including Ferid - the vampire who killed his family and Guren - the human Yuu falls in too easily with. While the others seem to come around to trust Guren, Mika stands by what he believes and has even stated that he would kill the man if it came down to that. Due his distrusting nature, Mika can come off cold and distant with others who try to insert themselves into his life. He may even brush them off or ignore them entirely if they keep trying or for those more persistent individuals, he might even get irritated and annoyed with them. One important fact about Mika is that he has an iron wall of determination around the things he wants to protect. It saw him get up time after time when Krul put a sword in his hands and taught him how to wield it, and pushed him through losing his humanity to cling to the idea of saving Yuu. When every other emotion started to leave him, the one that never did was how he felt for that teen. Mika would die for Yuu, and also the harder task of living for him. That feeling stayed with him even when all of his memories left, as he built a mindscape of their childhood family and knew that he had to protect them. It was the only thing he had left, because it was the one emotion that he clung to when everything else fell apart. This is the driving force behind all of Mika's actions and has been long before the world ended, whether it means that he has to wait all over again to see his family, or sacrifice himself for them to live. All of it is for the sake of those he cares about most and nothing can change that. |
Abilities & Inventory:
Demon: As a demon, Mikaela feeds upon the desires of mortals, able to use them in order to possess a person should they not be able to defeat him. It's said that he is more powerful than all of the current demons in canon, they refer to him as the King, and it's said that he's the son of the First, an angel who created all vampires. The full extent of his powers haven't yet been explored, but he was able to fight the First. He is bound to his weapon, and through his weapon, Yuichiro Hyakuya. This allows him direct contact with Yuichiro's desires, being able to feed off them whenever the pair of them need more power. Should anyone else pick up this weapon, they are in danger of being devoured, only by defeating Mikaela's nightmare dreamscape with an extremely strong will, would they be able to escape. He is capable of appearing before mortals, allowing them to see him, while other demons aren't. Mikaela is faster, stronger, and more agile than a typical human - even more than his vampire self, which humans are stated to be one-seventh that of a vampire's. All of these abilities can pass to his contractor. And while he can appear at will, he will change into a sword at the word of his contractor without being given a choice. Though, he can talk aloud in this form to anyone around. While he can be made to devour desires, Mikaela can also refuse to give power back, also refuse to heal his host. Unlike his vampire self, demons can appear out in the sun without needing a protection band. He's capable of defying gravity, hovering just above the ground, but also flying higher into the sky. Healing his contractor is also an easy thing to do, making sure that they don't physically die. While uncontracted, he has a variety of energy moves, one called A Glint of Light, which makes a huge cross of light appear to decimate everything in its wake. This includes entire buildings and can disintegrate flesh, muscle, and bone, inflicting an injury allows him to see inside the human's heart - their darkest moment, their deepest desire - in order to possess them. Mikaela doesn't particularly care about other humans and devouring them, but his own feelings for Yuu will prevent him from taking over completely and eating all of his friend. Mental Landscaping: Upon his creation, Mikaela created a whole world that held all of the children of his family, including his own human version. They were able to live there happily, while the demon version was capable of manipulating the very fabric of the world to fend off intruders. At first, he had no memories at all and reverted to a child's form, intending to live off the desires of his human version of himself and family, knowing he must protect them. He is capable of absorbing energy from other demons through attacks with large black cross weapons. Should anyone intrude in this landscape, he is fully aware of their presence, even if they've only made a door in so far. Viewing Memories: Once contracted to a human, Mikaela can view the memories of his host or even just focus to read their thoughts. Though, he explains that he's actually more eating the desires and all that comes with them. With Yuu, he has to concentrate to pick out his own. If the human puts up walls around their heart, they can prevent him from seeing those memories and thoughts. Since it's them, Yuu sometimes leaves his heart open and with a touch between them, Mikaela can access memories while the human is doing other things. While he is viewing memories, Mikaela can see things that weren't visible to the person at the time - whether it's ghosts or odd creatures. He can go extremely far back into both of their memories, to past lives, though since canon hasn't completely revealed everything, there will be a block for him even if Yuu is present. If he uses this ability, in reality, it distracts him and allows others to get close to him physically, so they can attack him. Mikaela can also draw his contracted human's mind into the blank space for a private conversation, the equivalent of a visual telepathy conversation. Power Discernment: As a sword, an eye would form near the hilt, where he analyzes the enemy and whether he and his wielder can defeat their opponent. The more powerful the opponent, the stronger desires he will need in order to win. Neutralizing Poison: As part of his power of discernment, he can identify when clashing blades with someone else is poisoning them. Neutralizing this poison is something he can do, though it is harder when that poison was made just for demons. This would cause them to be sluggish. He can figure out just how many times they can take the poison before they become slow enough to be defeated. Lightning: Outside the sword, Mikaela can simply generate lightning that would be strong enough to destroy a vehicle. As well as doing it as a basic attack when he's a sword. Demon Sword Powers: These abilities can only be used together with his contractor. First Edge: Pandemonium: Generates a stream of shadow-like energy from the blade, splitting open the intended target - or the ground itself should they dodge. Second Edge: Black Gash: Upon using this ability, it darkens the surrounding area, except for the blade strikes, then warps space until the target disappears. This was used to inflict a wound upon the First's cheek, his head warped until it no longer existed (not that this was enough to stop him). Third Edge: Phantom Journey: Mikaela appears alongside his sword version, generating electricity, he can help his wielder withstand a powerful attack. Flicker... Mikaela: Electricity engulfs the sword handle before lightning surges outward, covering a long distance in multiple directions. Dreamotion: Since a lot of Mikaela's canon powers are kind of based around him being an emotion vampire - turning desire into energy, he will probably be able to use dreamotion abilities that are relatively similar to canon powers. Electricity, flying, light, darkness, warping space just a little, adding on an actual shield for protective emotions. His own desires stem from wanting to be with Yuichiro and protecting him, so they would definitely be more powerful when he focuses on that. Since everyone else is also using their own emotions to fuel things in dreams, it would essentially boil down to his will versus theirs. (Mikaela and Yuichiro are supposed to be the OP protags, but still get their ass handed to them on the regular, so nothing will really change there.) Other than that, I think he'll be able to take his smaller form at will. His dream form most of the time will be his demon child one, with a specific sword. |
